Teeth Care
In addition to keeping bones strong, I have heard teeth health can be in part, a reflection of bone strength. Some things I do to keep my mouth and teeth
and gums healthy.
Brush in the morning and at night
Massage gums for the same amount of time as brushing
Floss teeth
Tongue scraper before getting dental work
Rinse mouth with tap water after meals when dining out
Apigenin in Olives & Parsley for strong teeth & bones
A 2014 article talks about apigenin contained in olives and parsley as helpful for maintaining strong teeth and bones.Apigenin inhibits osteoblastogenesis and osteoblastogenesis and prevents bone loss in ovariectomized mice. Apigenin is one of the major polyphenols in olives and parsley. Our findings indicate that apigenin may have critical effects on bone maintenance in vivo.
Fluorine
Some strive to use fluoride and carrageenan free toothpaste and mouthwash that is alcohol free. It is fluorine that keeps enamel strong and not synthetic fluoride. One of the most controversial issues is the impact of fluoride on the human thyroid gland. Many people are not aware that in the first half of the 20th century, fluoride was used medically as an anti-thyroid drug, to slow down the thyroid function in hyperthyroid patients. Individuals with PKD, with kidney disease should strive to limit fluoride exposure as it can build up in the body especially with decreased kidney functioning. Some even filter out fluoride from city drinking water.Brushing Tips
Place a pea-sized dab of fluoride-free & carrageenan-free toothpaste on toothbrush.
Use a soft toothbrush.
Place the toothbrush against the teeth at a 45-degree angle to the gum line.
Move the brush up and down the tooth.
Continue with this motion cleaning one tooth at a time.
Keep the tips of the bristles against the gum line.
Allow the bristles reach into spaces between teeth.
Brush across the top of the chewing surfaces of the teeth.
Complete the whole mouth.
Give your tongue gentle brush strokes, brushing from the back of your tongue forward.
This helps remove bacteria and freshens your breath.
After brushing your teeth for two to three minutes, rinse with water.
Then massage your gums for as long as you brushed.
Replace your toothbrush with a new one every three to four months.
To massage gums: Place the toothbrush against the teeth at a 45-degree angle to the gum line including both the teeth and gums. Gently brush up and down with a soft tooth brush, massaging the gums. This should feel good.
Mouth Rinse
Consider trying ipsab powder. Do not use a mouthwash that contains alcohol or fluoride.
