    Side Effects

    Octreotide Estrogen Polycystic Liver

In the 2013 article Somatostatin Estrogen and Polycystic Liver Disease, the authors note from reviewing current medical literature, that further liver cyst reduction does not occur after stopping octreotide for 6 months and may even result in re-growth.

My own experience is very different. For a year following stoppage of octreotide, I did not experience a regrowth of my liver size. My liver size did not regrow. Once restarted on octreotide I have experienced shrinkage of my liver size and for each subsequent year while taking octreotide. (though not as much as the first year) I think our unique responses to octreotide LAR, pasireotide, lanreotide can be very individually and vary greatly as do the side effects that we can come to experience.
