Bloating

Relief from Bloating

Eating certain foods can increase bloating and the use of some chemicals can become a constant pain trigger for someone with severe Polycystic Liver Disease. This can lead to early satiety (getting full quickly), emaciation, and malnourishment. We with PLD seem to have a similar appearance, skinny upper body, lean arms, huge belly, and fluid filled legs. As the disease progresses our livers become so huge that it can press on many of our internal organs increasing pain, contributing to bone deformities, and squishing internal organs. The good news is it is very rare for a PLD liver to ever fail.

Increases Bloating & Pain

Some things which greatly increase bloating & pain:
bleach & bleach products
alcohol, especially when inhaled, i.e. window cleaners
carrageenan contained in some foods can trigger bloating
cut down on proteins, this increases acid chyme
yeasted food products such as bread, pasta, crackers
Try making your own baked goods without yeast.
Try making your own pasta by hand.
Your cystic liver will greatly thank you. Recipes are located here. Click on the sliding window for breads to bring up all the bread recipes or search for a non yeasted bread recipe. Several are available to choose from. A menu is here.
I have discovered that oats increases PLD boating.

A few endocrine disruptors.
BPA
bleach
endocrine disruptors
methylparabens
phytoestrogens
phthalates
plastic
xenoestrogens

To protect our liver cysts we need to maintain the integrity of our DNA. This can be done with diet, by avoiding things which decrease DNA integrity. The PLD Diet is something to try to see if it works for you. We can avoid eating foods containing pesticides or herbicides; we can reduce exposure to xenoestrogens, endocrine disruptors, plastic, bleach, chemicals etc; by avoiding hormones and more; we can avoid caffeine; we can avoid yeast and wheat. The two hit mechanism is prominent in both diseases: ADPLD and ADPKD.
