Vaginal Dryness
After purposefully limiting exposure to hormones, endocrine disruptors, false estrogen, and xenoestrogens a side effect that some women experience is vaginal dryness. It can also be seen with aging. Vaginal dryness is a common problem for women during and after menopause, although inadequate vaginal lubrication can occur at any age. Reduced estrogen levels are the main cause of vaginal dryness. Avoid local lubricants that contain methylparabens, endocrine disruptors and other harmful chemicals. Some lubricants that are best to lay aside are Astroglide, Replens, Lubrin.Pjur
Pjur is an all silicone lubricant that might be useful if one can tolerate the side effects and no allergies persist. Carefully question the ingredients list. Silicone was and still is used as breast implants. Be cautious, read labels and be aware of any of your own reactions to any of the chemicals. Pjur has many different silicone lubricants.Dimethicone
You can hardly pick up a skin care, makeup, or hair care product these days without reading dimethicone on the ingredients list. Dimethicone (also known as polydimethylsiloxane or PDMS) is technically called a silicone-based polymer that increases acne. It is supposed to help keep moisture in, leaving skin hydrated for longer. It is used to provide smoothness, particularly in conditioners and detanglers, where the ingredient helps smooth hair and provide better comb-through. Because dimethicone leaves a sort of covering on the hair strands, it can also make hair appear shinier.
Dimethicone covers and traps moisture, bacteria, skin oils, sebum, and other impurities. This means those prone to acne or with oily skin are more likely to see increased blackheads and breakouts when using products containing this ingredient.
The following are in some Pjur ingredients that may cause some symptoms.
Cyclopentasiloxane: Formaldehyde exposure may cause cancer, dermatitis.
Dimethicone can produce small tumors to accumulate in liver and lymph nodes.
Dimethicone Copolyol, Dimethiconol, Cyclomethicone are all silicone derived emollients.
Previously I tried Pjur original. The basis of silicone is that it creates a barrier between the skin and the environment creating a barrier film. This can be a reason to take caution because the silicone can trap anything between the skin areas, i.e., like bacteria. This can be a possible source for urinary tract infections. Take caution.
