PKD DIET

Transplant Older Individuals

As the population of the world has a longer and longer life expectancy so does the age for organ transplants increase. Some centers are performing organ transplant well into the seventh decade of life. Careful screening for the presence and degree of frailty, other illnesses and poor compliance to treatment is highly recommended before admitting older candidates to the waiting list for transplantation. The good news is transplant for older individuals is now being performed with many alert and responsive older individuals with PKD/PLD. With medicine today a major increase in the number of older adults transplanted has resulted in decreased mortality and graft loss for this population.

Transplanting organs from an aging population to alleviate profound organ shortages appears to be a beneficial alternative to awaiting deceased donor kidneys.

We are  sharing our experiences with PKD/PLD Diet, an adjunct diet envisioning it complementing a physician's prescribed medical therapy. Consider testing this with your doctor's prior knowledge, who can  adjust it according to your own uniqueness by adding it to your current  treatment.
