PKD DIET

Cordyceps

Avoid Cordyceps

When a Cordyceps fungus attacks a host, the mycelium invades and eventually replaces the host tissue, while the elongated fruit body (ascocarp) may be cylindrical, branched, or of complex shape. The fungus germinates in the living larva, kills and mummifies it, and then the stalk-like fruiting body emerges from the corpse. Maybe useful with a transplanted organ by reducing the amount of immunosuppressive agents used.

Cordyceps ↑ cAMP

Cordyceps increases cyclic AMP. Increases in cAMP results in more circulating cAMP, which increases PKD cyst growth, creating more PKD cysts, increasing PKD organ size and increasing PKD symptoms. Some supplements of cordyceps contain brown rice. In certain brown rice products, levels of arsenic have been found to be elevated.

Cordyceps is used extensively in Bhutan. All data suggest that Cordyceps from Bhutan is a rational alternative of natural C. sinensis, which is beneficial for the improvement of their performance in health and medicinal food areas.

We are  sharing our experiences with PKD/PLD Diet, an adjunct diet envisioning it complementing a physician's prescribed medical therapy. Consider testing this with your doctor's prior knowledge, who can  adjust it according to your own uniqueness by adding it to your current  treatment.
