Enjoy Turmeric

Turmeric or Curcumin is wonderful for a cystic liver. It increases the metabolism of estrogen and estrogen by products through the liver. Estrogen and other hormones cause liver cyst growth. It reduces PLD pain. It can decrease abdominal girth from an enlarged cystic liver. Waking the Warrior Goddess, discusses turmeric's ability to diminish three (3) types of hormones. The Hawaiians call this herb, Olena. Freely use organic turmeric root to flavor dishes.

Turmeric contains many beneficial things for the liver. A UCLA study supports turmeric`s traditional and current uses. Written in Body and Soul, Holistic Health 2002,
"Curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, may reduce brain-tissue inflammation that is linked to Alzheimer`s disease".

Turmeric is also renal protective. It protects both the kidneys and liver. It has been used as an anti-inflammatory, as a DNA protector, decreases jaundice, as an anti-hepatotoxin. Some have found turmeric to be very beneficial for liver cysts. It is said to improve memory too.

Whole Foods vs Supplements

Whole foods is preferred to supplements. There maybe some tiny minute item missing from taking supplements as opposed to eating the whole food.

Enhance absorption of turmeric root or supplement

Taken with a spoonful of avocado or made into a golden tea with coconut milk or the use of pepper or piperine all enhance absorption.

2014 Trial Piperine + Turmeric

There was a 2014 paper written on a clinical trial with piperine + curcumin that found the use of piperine enhanced cucurmin absorption with multiple sclerosis patients.

The conclusion of the paper was that pepper helps absorption of turmeric.

Turmeric Curcumin on PKD

Turmeric in the laboratory on PKD mice seems to have a positive effect on cysts. Renal failure was postponed in PKD mice. Further research is needed. There is soon to be a clinical trial on the use of curcumin on vascular aspects of ADPKD. Curcumin inhibited ERK & p-STAT3 pathways, thereby decreasing cyst formation in the PKD model.

Fermented Turmeric

Fermented turmeric may help the memory of scopolamine induced memory impairment. Fermented curcumin significantly reduces hyperlipidemia but has no effect on the liver. Fermented foods helps irritable bowel syndrome.
