Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis), contains the chemical berberine, which might have preventing the growth of certain bacteria and fungi. However goldenseal is very toxic to the liver and can cause liver tumors. Avoid as it is detrimental to PKD/PLD. The American Cancer Society has found that "evidence does not support claims that goldenseal is effective in treating cancer or other diseases. Goldenseal can have toxic side effects, and high doses can cause death."
