Kidney Toxins

Some common PKD kidney toxins are: aspirin, phenacetin, NSAIDs, lithium, starfruit, chaparral tea, caffeine, coffee, tea and more.

Ask your doctor or your pharmacist if a particular medication might be harmful to your cystic kidneys or cystic liver. Work with your doctor and seek an alternative medication when one is available.

Several over the counter medicines are to be avoided:  aspirin, phenacetin, tylenol and more.

Check out this page for over the counter medications, vitamins, and supplements; this page about kidney and liver herbs; and this page discusses certain foods.
