Raspberry

Enjoy raspberry

Raspberry leaf and raspberry fruit can cause a softening of the pelvic muscles; improvement of uterine tone and blood supply can be seen. Eating raspberries may help women experiencing vaginal dryness by increasing blood flow to the pelvic area. Some have found eating raspberries very useful for pudendal nerve entrapment and vestibulitis. Raspberries are an aphrodisiac.

Caution

If you are pregnant and prone to miscarriage avoid raspberries. Its mode of action is through relaxation of the pelvic muscles. It can prevent postpartum hemorrhage. It is said to be useful during the last trimester of pregnancy to help facilitate an easier birth and shorter labor though current medical research does not support this. Raspberry leaf tea is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy as drinking it may facilitate a miscarriage.

Blackberry

Blackberries contain numerous phytochemicals including polyphenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, salicylic acid, ellagic acid, and fiber. Anthocyanins in blackberries are responsible for their rich dark color.

Black raspberry

The easiest way to tell the difference between the the blackberry and the black raspberry is by the core (where the stem attaches to the berry). Blackberries will always have a white core, whereas black raspberries are hollow in the center (just like raspberries). Black raspberries are one of the healthiest berries on the planet. They are lower in sugar than most berries and also contain a lot of fiber (around 8 grams per cup). They contain large amounts of anthocyanins, and around three times the antioxidants found in blackberries.
