Avoid Peanuts

There is much written about aflatoxin, a carcinogen that develops on mold on peanuts even organic peanuts. A scientist who went to third world countries to convince them to eat more proteins. He studied children in the Philippines. These children of wealthier families, were developing and dying of liver cancer. Liver cancer is usually a disease of a much older population.

There was coincidentally a little publicized study rats were fed a known amount of a carcinogen called aflatoxin. Rats were divided into groups: one group ate a 5% protein diet; the second group ate a 15% protein diet and another group had a high protein diet. Rats on the 15% and high protein diets developed liver cancers and died. None of the 5% protein diet rats developed liver cancer. Both groups received the exact same dose of aflatoxin. This aflatoxin contamination was seen amongst the Filipino children. Those who ate the most protein were dying at a very young age from liver cancer. Their source of protein was peanuts and corn. Aflatoxin is present to a lesser degree in sesame seed paste, chocolate, wheat cereals.

Peanut Butter Smell Provides a Test for Alzheimer's

The sense of smell is the first cranial nerve, often not tested in Alzheimer's, yet it is one of the first to go. Jennifer Stamps a graduate student from the University of Florida,(UF) McKnight Brain Institute Center for Smell and Taste, and her colleagues reported their findings of a small pilot study in the Journal of the Neurological Sciences in October 2013. They devised a simple test with peanut butter for quickly and easily assessing if one has pending Alzheimer's.
