PKD DIET

Lose Weight

How can I lose weight?

Eating salads for lunch and leafy greens for dinner will kick start a continuous weight loss often taking two weeks to noticeably begin. The heart attack proof diet also called a vegan no oil diet, will have to be geared to kidney and liver health; this will also institute a weight loss. Limit starches like bread, potatoes, pasta, cereal, corn chips, tortillas, rice, couscous, tabouli by enjoying starches alone or having them with only leafy green vegetables. Grapefruit has something inherent in it that promotes weight loss. However grapefruit interferes with many medications. Check with your pharmacist. I am not sure what it is about microwave use, but food eaten that has been microwaved seems to give one added weight.

Weight Gaining Combinations

Mixing a protein such as nuts, fish, or cheese with a carbohydrate like grains, bread, rice or potatoes will cause a weight gain.

Nut breads, banana Fish & rice Cheese sandwiches
Steak & potatoes Hamburgers Sandwiches

Getting Essential Fatty Acids May Lead to Weight Loss

Anutra or chia contains Omega-3's: four types of fat derived from food sources along with saturated fat, trans fat, polyunsaturated fat, monounsaturated fat. All poly- and mono-unsaturated fats including Omega-3's offer benefits to good health and are considered the fats of life. Chia seeds (Anutra) contain essential fatty acids and have benefits without increasing PLD liver size or causing liver aches. Flax and fish oil do increase PLD liver size and aches. Chia is said to be high in fiber and slow down the rate of absorption of proteins and carbohydrates allowing the full feeling to last longer.

We are  sharing our experiences with PKD/PLD Diet, an adjunct diet envisioning it complementing a physician's prescribed medical therapy. Consider testing this with your doctor's prior knowledge, who can  adjust it according to your own uniqueness by adding it to your current  treatment.
