PKD DIET

Alfalfa

Avoid Alfalfa

Alfalfa sprouts are one sprout to avoid. It produces a process in the sprouting that can create difficulties for kidneys.

L-Canavanine

Alfalfa sprouts contain l-canavanine, (similar to L-Arginine) an unusual amino acid that has been known to result in some toxicity and joint stiffness in humans. Alfalfa sprouts are best avoided for PKD'rs. For an added zip to salads, try broccoli sprouts or radish sprouts.

We are  sharing our experiences with PKD/PLD Diet, an adjunct diet envisioning it complementing a physician's prescribed medical therapy. Consider testing this with your doctor's prior knowledge, who can  adjust it according to your own uniqueness by adding it to your current  treatment.
