Cannabidiol CBD is derived from a part of the marijuana plant without any hallucinogenic effects. Researchers discovered that in order for the drug to be effective, the entire plant must be prepared. Individual components of the drug can be increased to aide in the drug's effectiveness. This can be isolated in order to manufacture a working drug.
Certain cannabis plants are grown and cross bred to produce a particular type of property: eliminating seizures, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety attacks, leukemia and more. Some keep you awake. Some put you to sleep. There are some medical marijuana drugs released in the UK by GW Pharmaceuticals. This is not yet available in the USA. Maternal exposure to cannabinoids influenced spermatogenesis and fertility in their male offspring examined at 60-80 days of age. Cannabidiol, could result in male reproductive failure.

This drug is released in the UK for treatment of neuropathic pain. Clinical trials in the UK have shown it to be effective for Multiple Sclerosis MS pain. Nabiximols (trade name Sativex) is a patented cannabinoid oromucosal mouth spray developed by the UK company GW Pharmaceuticals for multiple sclerosis (MS) patients, who can use it to alleviate neuropathic pain, spasticity, overactive bladder, and other symptoms. Nabiximols is distinct from all other pharmaceutically produced cannabinoids currently available because it is a mixture of compounds derived from Cannabis plants, rather than a mono-molecular synthetic product.

Cannabidiol (CBD), and other phytochemical constituents of cannabis are considered to be generally safe. Very rarely people will complain of a short lasting and mild stomach pain.
