PKD DIET

Monitor Blood Pressure

Self monitor your own blood pressure nightly. With PKD our highest blood pressures can be in the evening time as well as throughout the night while we are sleeping. For this and other reasons, sometimes doctors have us take blood pressure medications at night. Get your blood pressure device calibrated at each doctor's visit. There are certain blood pressure medications better for PKD'rs than others. These not only lower blood pressure but also decrease proteinuria and increase kidney blood flow. If your blood pressure is normal (100/70 - 110/60 - 120/80), maintain this blood pressure by limiting salt (brown rice and vegetables is good starting point), go for daily gentle walks, keep a lower body weight, eat mostly vegetables, avoid the top ten allergic foods as well as any food allergies, get rest, drink plenty of water, eliminate caffeine and do some gentle exercise daily.

We are  sharing our experiences with PKD/PLD Diet, an adjunct diet envisioning it complementing a physician's prescribed medical therapy. Consider testing this with your doctor's prior knowledge, who can  adjust it according to your own uniqueness by adding it to your current  treatment.
