Teeth Care

In addition to keeping bones strong, I have heard teeth health can be in part, a reflection of bone strength. Some things I do to keep my mouth and teeth and gums healthy.

Fluorine

Some strive to use fluoride and carrageenan free toothpaste and mouthwash that is alcohol free. It is fluorine that keeps enamel strong and not synthetic fluoride. One of the most controversial issues is the impact of fluoride on the human thyroid gland. Many people are not aware that in the first half of the 20th century, fluoride was used medically as an anti-thyroid drug, to slow down the thyroid function in hyperthyroid patients.

Individuals with PKD, with kidney disease should strive to limit fluoride exposure as it can build up in the body especially with decreased kidney functioning. Some even filter out fluoride from city drinking water.

Brushing Tips

To massage gums: Place the toothbrush against the teeth at a 45-degree angle to the gum line including both the teeth and gums. Gently brush up and down with a soft tooth brush, massaging the gums. This should feel good.

Mouth Rinse

Consider trying ipsab powder. Do not use a mouthwash that contains alcohol or fluoride.
