Callilepis laureola Impila has been used in Chinese herbal root medicine. It is detrimental to PKD/PLD. Severe liver injury can result, including acute and chronic abnormalities and even cirrhotic transformation and liver failure. Callilepis laureola can damage the liver severely. Do not take callilepis laureola. In some it has been known to cause a fatal liver necrosis.

Impila produced cytotoxicity and depleted GSH in 15 minutes within the liver.
